It's only free LD from the Home Phone. The cellular customer gets free local calling to Home Phone and Fido. Once number portability rolls out though, who knows what'll happen! As a Rogers store manager, i'm pretty pumped for it.
i second that! Only vowel-ful phones from now on!
I wouldn't even take a v551 for free on a 2 year term, why would i wanna pay $1700+ for these?! Motorola needs to take a reality pill and make some phones that actually work. and holy crap! stop with the RAZRs!!!
Agreed Benson!
I used a PPC for the longest time, Treo for a while too, but just recently switched to Blackberry and have never been happier. The one handed operation is just what I need. I can navigate a website, excel document, calendar or anything else 10x easier with my scroll wheel than I ever could with my stylus.
wow, these comments are really negative. It's a pretty cool idea, being from a small canadian town, which is in the process of installing wireless broadband (thought we were the first, apperently not :-( ) i love it. good job!
is this free phone gunna be unlocked for all us out of towners? I'm hoping to be the first treo 700 on Rogers!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
