It is possible to output 1080p video on an Atom processor, it all depends on your OS load. Bluray players have a much lower spec'ed processors then any Atom, but they use realtime OSes. Its possible that Fusion Garage is using realtime Linux (RT Linux). They obviously have a very slimmed down version of linux since they acheived a 9 second boot time.

You guys need someone a little more technical on your podcast for these issues :)
@Edobe AGREED. Huge let down, I was expecting a big screened android device like everyone else... :(
looks great except the font type and the font size of the comments.
That looks like the bug that was put in Neo in the Matrix.
I was just going to say that. I've had no problem with maintaining my google contacts on my G1 and in gmail. Now, if motorola is including facebook, twitter, etc. I agree, they should have a "gatekeeper" option. In fact they should call it Gatekeeper!
is this really a surprise? I think maemo has some promise, but Nokia just seems like the GM of the mobile industry. They have way too many products scattered across the board and no focus on evolving their software. And they are still using resistive screens. Cmon Nokia make some multitouch capacitive goodness with maemo and you'll have a winner!
I agree with Nilay, Microsoft's business model is all about licensing when it comes to Windows. These small encroachments into also producing hardware can hurt Microsoft's relationships with its partners. The whole PlayForSure vs Zune is a perfect example. Where do you see anymore PlayForSure devices anymore?
The screen is really cool, I think thats why Chris was talking about. The phone is like any other candy bar + uglier.
its IBM so don't expect it to be cheap. But luckily, since IBM is so huge the chances of an oil company buying out the tech is really small. Hopefully IBM will license the tech(likely) instead of producing it themselves. I'm waiting for the 25k electric car, hopefully this will make it happen. I should be able to atleast get an android phone that runs for more then 1 day.
that picture is perfect for this post. you fail.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
