Don't they make tires.....sad when a company whos expertise is rubber, is now dabbling with electronics. I trust them to make good tires - not GPS devices!
Check out Loki.com, it does the same thing using Skyhook Wireless API. I haven't tried it, but I think it is free and is only for windows mobile users.
The military back in 2000 was ok to turn off SA and this feature hasn't been used since then. The government is only now making it official and any new satellites will not feature SA capability. Even though SA is now rendered inoperative, the US military still has the ability to regionally disrupt GPS signals as it deems fit. I'm sure it wouldn't give up SA so willingly unless there was an alternative in place.

As to Galileo, we won't be seeing it for a while yet. Something that we may see more and more is GLONASS, the Russian based positioning satellite system. After falling into disrepair in the 90s, the Russians are aggressively reactivating their satellites. A number of commercial positioning systems already have GPS/GLONASS capabilities as it offers further positional accuracies.
I'm sure that this will have the exact same specs as the HTC S720 that is sold here in Canada through Telus. You can check out the exact specs here:

No it doesn't have Wifi, but it will be Rev A software upgradeable which is nice. Also it should have WM6 as the one from Telus does as does mine. I personally have the HTC S710 (with wifi) on the Rogers network. Great phone. I love the slide out keyboard.
It's great that WNP has finally arrived in Canada. It is surprising though that there is virtually not a peep out of any of the carriers here. It seems that carrier collusion reigns supreme in Canada. Even though WNP takes effect today - pretty much nobody even knows about it!

And I agree with the comments made above regarding data plans. The rates are ludicrous. Rogers/Fido has an internet package for $5 for 2MB (yipee) and then charges you $30 for every MB after that. Bell has similar rates. So even though WNP kicks in today - where does one go as every carrier is bound to screw you on prices???
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I've found myself using my PC for a lot of conversations lately, and I'm also considering recording a podcast to share with anyone who will listen. There are tons of USB headset / microphones out there, and I'm hoping someone has some solid recommendations based on experience. I'll consider both headsets and standalone mics, by the way, but I'd like to keep the bill under $100 if possible. Help!"
