I just don't get Psystar. They seem like they WANT to get spanked by Apple. Or even the FTC. Sure, the Hackintosh scene isn't something for everybody, it requires a bit of knowledge, but it seems to work better than this product.

Search around. Many people are saying that Psystar's product just doesn't work as advertised.

I think the misunderstanding isn't even around carrier customization(s)... it's around carriers crippling features. Big difference.

faster processor, fit Maemo on there, up the RAM to 256mb, work on the inconsistent UI and above all... find a carrier that will subsidize that whole way-too-damn-expensive price on it.

Flush Ovi, get more apps on it that are worth a darn, and attract more devs to the platform. Fix that price though... seriously. A damn recession and you price it to where it won't sell. How dumb.

Maemo's Application Manager is a far cry from an "App Store"... you have to add, remove and manage repositories for instance. That's a big difference. It's more akin to adding/removing apps in Ubuntu than the iTunes Store... or even Ovi for that matter.

However, let's be frank. Nokia doesn't support the Maemo platform past two iterations per device.

770 - OS 2005, OS 2006 (Gregale, Bora) - the rest were unofficial/hacker editions
N800 - OS 2007, OS 2008 (Chinook. Diablo) - it's dead in the water
N810 - OS 2008, OS 2008 with SSU (Chinook, Diablo) - it's dead in the water

And this RX-51 runs Fremantle, which will have it's GTK+ UI bits removed by Qt in Harmattan, which will break all of the existing dev/apps for the most part and if the past serves an indicator, any/all major changes in OS usually means a new device. See above.

Nokia hasn't been consistent on the updates other than quickly abandoning it. Sad when the original iPhone can run (albeit a bit slower) the newest firmware. You can't say the same for the 770. And soon, not the same for the N810.

But the Maemo Application Manager is nothing, NOTHING like iTunes Music Store.

If they take down the DRM server, then that's on them, right? Or by using their logic, it's also on me because I bought it under their current rules and they might change, alter, or disconnect at any damn time they please?

Yeah. No wonder they're seen as the "bad guy". Bunch of folks stuffing their pockets today finding new ways to do so tomorrow.

I don't get what the "lose connection" part means. Does that mean since I already have/own GV Voice, that iTunes will disable it?
