So, have these guys figured out how to disable AMR-HR yet?
I really wanted to get on board with Helio, almost popped for a contract a couple of weeks ago before all of the unlimited talk started about two weeks ago. I went so far as to locate the nearest reseller and went in - what a crap hole! Picture a cell phone reseller version of the guy that sells comic books on The Simpsons, in a shoddy-looking office space that resells every service available in Portland Oregon. That, and all of the talk about Helio's fiscal situation and not-so-hot CS - I didn't pull the trigger. I signed up a few days ago for VZ's unlimited plan with smart phone - sure, it's more expensive per month, but I'm pretty sure that VZ is going to be around in 6 months...

I hope they pull it out, competition is good - I'll check them out in 2 years when my contract's up!
Checked out Helio - no data roaming off Sprint's network, which isn't so hot in the PNW. Cricket, liked them too but travel 6 miles north from Portland and I'm roaming; 200 minutes of roaming per month won't cut it for me (and I'd then be in the $60 per month plan. I love what MetroPCS is doing, just wish I didn't have to drive 800 miles to be in their home area.

T-Mobile's got about the worst coverage of the major providers in the US in the PNW - and the nearest Starbucks from Gresham is Redmond, a two-hour drive. I was about to sign up for a SERO account, wishing for an unlimited minutes plan outside of Sprint's $199 voice plan. I got stuck in traffic on Friday, and gave it up for a pint or I would have signed up that night. Two hours from a trip to a Sprint shop on Saturday I cruised HoFo and saw what a lot of phone geeks saw. I'll be upping both my VZ service and my AT&T service to unlimited minutes in the next week; I can drive 100 miles in the PNW with no service with either, but rarely with both being out of service. One missed call two weeks ago cost me $25k and I learned my lesson. No more missed calls and no more buckets o' minutes to worry about, that's what I'm talkin' about! I'm not waiting for Mr. Hesse to join the fray, sorry Sprint!
I'd love to have a plan like this for less for business use, it's a steal. At this writing, tho' - I can't find anything about it on Sprint's site. Or on the BG site, for that matter (since his May '07 posting)...
Can I have it? Please!?
N75 - US market UMTS
N76 - Euro-spec UMTS
Pick me, please?!? S60 and EngadgetMobile.com rocks!
I don't understand what the story means by the Smart fortwo arrives in 2008. They're already here, been here for months. You can buy one today, drive one today. Heck, there's one parked by a business about two blocks from my house right now. It's silver...

They're cute. I'm 6'7" - I won't be owning one anytime soon...
I'm missing something, I think. What's the big deal about these reservations when I see them on a dealer's lot for sale? I walked by a dozen of them at a dealer in Lake Oswego just this afternoon - Passions, Sports, a Cabrio, and a Pulse. Oswego Luxury here in Oregon has been selling them for at least a few months. They're kind of cute, but I'm 6'7" and don't really fit. Maybe they ought to advertise a little more?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm in the market for a new phone and money isn't a limitation. I'm also not partial to any particular US carrier, but here are some of the features I'd like to have: WiFi, GPS, good coverage in lots of places, push Gmail (a must!), physical keyboard (a must!), a touchscreen, decent battery life and a relatively slim body. And please, nothing that has a fruit logo on it. No offense to the fruit fans, though. Thanks!"
