@derX: "CDMA represents a small portion of cell phone usage"

time for a fact check buddy, last time I checked VZW wasn't a small portion and increasing!
@Loban : Oh thank Jebus someone finally said it! I always wonder what the hell people would want a so-called upscaling DVD player for. I finally bought one (a high end toshiba) thinking I needed it to get the best picture possible (Sharp HDTV). Totally waste of money, my TV upconversion kicked its ASS. The picture was SO much better when letting my tv do the work. When you think about it, why would it not be that way?

Are you telling me a $100 DVD player is going to outperform a $2000+ product, I would certainly hope not!

I'm with you Loban, total SCAM.
I'm seeing a whole lot of short sightedness in these comments. Who said the device had to be a phone?

Other cool wireless option:

- Tivo anywhere
- New option for mobile TV
- GPS that keeps updated with new POI, traffic, etc (beyond what already exists)
- Handheld Engadget mobile device
Try math it makes life more fun when you don't look like an idiot!

During the week that store is open about 10 hours, that would be one phone every 2 minutes ALL DAY LONG. Hmm, yeah seems possible. They start teaching expected outcomes in 3rd grade, were you absent?
This picture seems much more worthy of the $5K

jared... Hands down, best comment ever!
Seriously nobody picked up on the URL of the story yet?

yourpsychogirlfriend.com Outstanding!
With a name like VX-8700 you KNOW it's going Verizon.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
