Holy cow. Then go live on a militia compound and communicate by string-and-tin can or by carrier pigeon. Oh, wait, the pigeon could be shot down and tortured for information. And someone could tap into your string and steal your intel.

The carrier already has all your vital info from your contract. And they access your call info for billing. It's not like they went in and messed with your phone book or accessed your e-mail. They fixed a phone bug, and they saved you the effort of having to do it yourself. Were you not going to fix your camera to prevent Big Brother from getting inside your phone? Any fix you do involves the carrier tapping into your phone, whether you initiate it or the carrier initiates it.

You give your credit card to some anonymous waiter in a bar or restaurant who can copy your credit card number and do who knows what with it, and you're worried about phone updates? Say hi to Oliver Stone for me.
This is absofriggin'lutely pathetic. Any woman I see wearing these will get a Dirty Sanchez on the spot, and any guy ('cause there will be some) will get a punch right in the junk.
First, here's your tissue. Take a second and dry your eyes. Boy, that was quite a little tantrum.

So no Verizon, no AT&T, no Sprint, eh? Yep, the whole of American cellular communications is pretty much in the crapper.

Someone needs a reality check. You wanna buy a phone and use it with anyone you want? Well, you can do that, with the only real limitation being GSM v. CDMA. You don't want to "pay through the nose?" Let's consider that for a minute. Consider an iPhone. It is a phone. It has a camera. It is an iPod. It does all the app stuff. It's a navigational device. And unlocked it costs around $500. Now, go to the store and buy individual devices - a phone, a camera, an iTouch, a Garman - and add up the cost of all those items. $500 or more? You bet. Plus consider that you only have to carry around 1 device instead of 4 or 5. "Paying through the nose?" I don't think so.

As far as the carrier lowering your bill after two years, so what? The vast majority of people want a new phone when their contract is up, if not sooner. How many people do you know that are walking around with phones more than 2 years old? The way technology changes, a phone that is 2 yrs. old is dated.

Hidden charges? You have had a cell phone before, right? The charges are not hidden. You might not like that they are there, but they are explained (at least in my bill from Verizon), and a significant portion are out of the control of the carrier.

You sound like a whiney little pup who wants everything he wants without having to pay for it. Good luck with your tin cans and string.
A) Apple would not be "giving" the iPhone to Verizon. Saying that implies Apple would get nothing out of it. Apple would be getting access to another 80 million potential customers and all their app purchases and whatnot. Plus, with a developed CDMA version, who says Sprint would not get to carry it?

B) Business bash each other all the time and still work together. They bash when they need to to compete, and they collaborate when it's in both their self-interests. The bottom line is money, and Apple is not going to say "We won't work with you because you made fun of us" if Apple can gain financially.
Good grief people are greedy punks. People on here want this and that and more this and more that, but they get all pissed when someone tries to point out that there is a cost associated with this and that. Take the Sholes for example. The same people who are raving about the awesome feature set turn around and say "But it better not cost more than $200."

This phone for $100 is a fine deal by any measure. Think about other phones you have paid $100 for in the past. The last phone I paid for was an LG VX8700 that could not do a quarter of what the Pixi can do, and it was $180.

Quit whining people, you sound like a bunch of little babies.

I can't see and I can't breathe and I can't stay and I can't leave
I've got a Fuze in my pants....
I don't care what reason they give as long as the airlines keep the cell phone ban in place. And self-indulgent, arrogant dinks like Cash are reason numero uno. People like Cash think they should get to do what they want because they think their reason is good enough, but they are the first to tell someone else that person's reason is not good enough. "I don't turn off my cell when the cabin door closes anymore." Well good for you, Cash, you little rebel you. Just make sure you keep talkin' loud and proud and you'll show the rest of us, won't you? Jacka55.
this would make up for the lump of coal i got last christmas.

dear Ndugu,

my name is warren r. schmidt and i'm your new foster father. lately i find myself asking teh same questions: who is this old woman who lives in my house? why is it that every little thing she does irritates me? i hate the way she sits. and the way she smells. for years now she has insisted that i sit when i urinate. my promise to lift the seat and wipe the rim and put the seat back down wasn't good enough for her.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I'm looking for a solid state drive, around 32 to 64GB, for use in my web server. The drive will contain my web sites and the operating system, either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Ubuntu. Large storage is handled by a separate RAID array, so capacity is not an issue. Rather, I am looking for the fastest, longest-lasting, and most reliable drive under $150 that is suitable to my application. Any thoughts? Thanks!"
