WTF? $999 no commitment price?! No way! In my account (which is a premier account using a discount with my employer), it says the device is $999 with no commitment (since I just paid full price for an iPhone 3G and still had to sign a contract I am not eligible for upgrade price)!!! On the regular at&t retail site it says $549! What's the deal?! No way I'm pay $999. I could cancel my contract and come back for MUCH cheaper. Something is wrong with that... I'm going to a store.
This seems to be the "norm" these days. Apple update and then a 2-3 step jailbreak almost immediately followed by improved jailbreak experience, etc etc. This is no longer news. Stop reporting it for them. Geez. Report when after a couple weeks they can't do it--that'll be news. We expect and assume this for the time being. But perhaps you are their personal reporter for them now. I am no apple hater (have an iPhone 3G to prove it), but this is sooooooooo old to read over and over with every point or major update!
I love it when people think there is a typo where there is none.
So purchases no longer take 1 minute, they will take 10 minutes (minimum), This will make release day a nightmare I'm sure. And no thank you dumb ass employee, I don't have any questions. I don't need you to explain things wrongly to me or try to sell me something I don't need. Maybe you didn't notice my account says that my name is "Educated Consumer" not "Dumbass Grandma Technophobe," Give me the phone and let me go on my way. I can click faster than you. I was truly hoping the iphone activation paradigm would spread to other phones so that all the transactions became more self service. Upnext: Apple's iATM has a person counting your money out to you and no you may not have 20s with your withdrawal.

Anyway, I'm still getting one on the first day... :-)

you're mad that you'd have to carry around an external dvd drive (since you use it so much and all), but then mad that you can't carry around an extra battery (cause u like carrying those around). wtf?

as for the installing os x if your install gets hosed. my money is on the software being on a separate partition on the drive just like it is on most pc's these days. and thank god for that--who can keep those darned dvds around without getting scratched? i know i either lose them or scratch em in a big box.

Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I just switched to Sprint from Verizon about three months ago for the Pre. Then I went for the Hero about a week ago. Now, I miss my hardware keyboard and am thinking about switching to the Moment. I am still able to switch back to Verizon if I want and get the Droid when it arrives. Should I just trade up to the Moment when it comes out, see if I like it, and if not switch to the Droid? Or something else entirely? Help!"
