Can someone explain to me why I'd use an OS-specific application for RSS instead of the web-based Google Reader?

I've been using Google Reader for awhile now and love it, but am I missing something by not using a standalone RSS app?

Explain it to me like I'm 5.
He walked uphill to school, too... Both ways.

And he LIKED it!

Seriously though, you're right. Technology sucks! That's why I'm here reading a gadget site. My car today has seat belts and airbags... Even side curtain airbags. Where do those automakers get off!? In my day, if there was an accident, we died... And we LIKED it!
>> "Close your eyes"

Or simply get a life. Every day I have to see stuff I'd rather not... Be it a co-worker, a "clever" bumper sticker on an oversized American SUV or a fat lady in stretch pants. However, part of being an adult is that I just go on with my day without whining like a little bitch.

Even when sh!t I didn't care about and have no intention of ever buying dominated this site (Vista, the Wii, that thousand dollar keyboard, whatever...), I didn't complain. I simply scrolled past those articles and got on with it.

Geat a life, dude. It's just teh Internets.
Typical American...

Doesn't want the truth.
Can't handle the truth.

I'm sure Apple Store employees care what you think about the headline on an iPhone display, derek. They have nothing bigger to deal with.

Get a life, moron.
I used to always think you guys were dicks for beating up on Erica, but honey... C'mon...

This is about the tenth eye-roller in a row from you.

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
The Yahoo! Mail thing is the odd man out in all this. I'm lucky enough to have my.name@yahoo.com, but on the (much newer) Gmail, I couldn't even get close. Had to go with myname.iphone@gmail.com .. just in case they go that way.

The .Mac e-mail address is my primary reason for keeping the service. I know there's a thousand free routes to go, but I NEVER get spam on .Mac and I like being able to effortlessly sync my two Macs, while also being able to access it all from the web.

T-minus 9 hours 30 minutes 'til Steve takes the stage and some answers start shaking loose.
Great giveaway. Please count me in, Engadget Mobile.
The edits are frustrating. I'm a Mac user all the way, but I'm not so narrow-minded that I don't want to hear what Bill has to say. Seems every time he speaks, they cut back to Steve or Walt. WTF?
This show aired so long ago I thought TV Squad had a software glitch and reposted an old post.

I liked this show. Good to see there's more episodes in the can and that they're going to burn 'em off.

Season Pass set (again).
Awesome giveaway. Count me in, please.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
