Buy a spare battery and a decent headset. :)
Good question, i would imagine as a minimum Main@3.1 720p ~ 4mb with Cabac will play fine.
Its an early hands on.
Root gives you a deeper level of access so you can more things with it than most manufactures want you to do. Whether you can take advantage of it is another matter, but the community will be active on your behalf.

Its far from a perfect phone but it does enough and like the form factor, so hope to get one soon to replace my ageing E71.

Reading the comments here today is enough to make you stop reading blogs altogether, bunch of morons, its a phone and you either like it or dont.

So the 32gb is £539 and the N900 is £499, yet the N900 is free on £35pm/ 18m and the 3GS costs a whopping £175 on £35pm/ 24m contract.

Hmm, someone's getting ripped off somewhere.
Europe wins again!! Ha!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
