I have been waiting for this device since it was announced in December of last year. I just ran to the ATT store and purchased a Tilt. I am tired of waiting even a few weeks. I just couldn't get excited about buying a device that is a generation behind. If the network is bad I will return it. If not I am porting my number and am gone.
What features do they cripple?
I have a treo 600. My contract end seems perfectly timed with the sunset PDA devices so I decided to tough it out and wait for the sunrise. It is taking a while to come. I wanted the XV6800 since rumors of its release back in 12/06. Now WM6 is coming out soon so I am waiting it. I feel like I am always waiting and want to pull the trigger. No Rev A seems like one of the last straws. I live in the NYC Metro area and am thinking of switching to ATT because Verizon takes too long to release new phones (ATT tilt is the next model up from 6800, right?). Can’t blame them for WM6 but the 6800 is not a new phone. I always heard VZ was a better network around here but I really haven't done much research and don't really know where to get good information on this. Additionally I hear VZ has some constraints other carries don't regarding Bluetooth, tethering, and disabled wi-fi. Does anybody have any insight on this? How about the network?
Trooth, thanks for clearing it up for me. I appreciate your zeal. I wasn't looking for a fight, just answers. Yours seem to make a lot of sense. Does VZW cost more then other carriers to hook up with a laptop? How about connecting to a wifi device?
I am confused. Kaiser is going to ATT I think sometime after Sept 10. I've been waiting for the 6800 but I don't know if that UTStarcom is for US. I might go to ATT if Kaiser comes and I can get some assurance the service is ok in the Northeast. I hear Verizon diables more stuff then ATT, is that true? If ATT had some advantage in wifi, data costs, tethering I might have to go with them.
Realistically when might we see a new HTC phone from Verizon hit the market?
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
