Hopefully my odds will be better than winning the lottery...
@Jordan:
"And I think you mis-understood me. I'm not putting down the slim or anything like that. What I'm saying is if you constantly re-release your hardware in a cheaper slim version because you need to to get sales, isn't that saying your orignal designs and pricing sucked?"

Right - either that or the technologies that are available today weren't available or cost effective with the initial design... I mean, why redesign the original microwave? Why make 45nm chips when 65nm exist?

It's not that they *need* to get sales, it's simply that redesigning lowers the cost to manufacture, which means that they can make the same % profit at a lower price point. It's saying that the technology that they used has become more evolved.

But I guess you're right, why release a product with technology that exists when in 3 years, it'll be cheaper to make the same thing...
I wouldn't mind a new phone...
I wouldn't mind a discount on Windows 7!
Well, if you're just gonna give it away...
Well, here's to hoping... I never win these things...
Well, by getting an N85 for free would help to spur the economy... First, it'd have to be shipped to me, so the shipping company would make some money... Then I'd pop in my AT&T sim, and call everyone I know telling them how cool the free phone that I won from Engadget and Expansys US was... My friends would be totally jealous, so they'd go to Engadget, and click on a few ads, then after doin' some research, head on over to the Expansys US site and purchase a new phone for themselves, which would mean it would have to be shipped...

So you see - all that has to be done is to let me win the phone and the economy will be on its way to being repaired!

I'll try for one!
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"I own an iPhone 3G and I'm looking for a decent speaker / alarm clock for it. I am going to listen music in a mid-sized room, so I want nice quality speakers with solid bass. I also want to use it as an alarm clock, so it would be great if there is such a feature. The price can be low-mid to mid-high range. I was looking at the Klipsch iGroove SXT; it's powerful, slick and the reviews are good, but it doesn't have an alarm clock feature. It's no deal breaker if I can set it up from the iPhone, but I'm not sure. Thanks!"
