Why would anyone even want new Helio gear? Their customer service is useless for anything besides getting credits, you can't use the buddy locator because, let's face it, no one you know has another helio headset, and they don't have any upgrade options like the other carriers. Helio either needs to start bringing a ton of new phones, or just get phased out of VM.
Come on, Engadget - my gf and I need some good speakers since we rarely leave the house anymore. At least let us enjoy House and the occasional blu-ray netflix as we hanker down in these crazy end days.
Good thing I just cleaned out my gadget storage, and have room for new gadget boxes! Please engadget, I want to be on the cutting edge of technology!
1. Place handset under car tire
2. Drive car in direction of phone
3. Recycle the remains
4. Let all the ocean-haters like me out of our contracts, dammit!
CArolla's been great as Howard Stern's replacement here in Southern California, and CArolla's been consistently funny, from his early KROQ stints, to LoveLine, to Men Show (which is sorely missed), to his current morning show. All along, CArolla's been a car guy - he owns a modified 71 or 72 Datsun 510, a souped up jag, and a couple other cars. One car he doesn't have - and isn't his name - is the COrolla.
I'd love to get a new DAP so I can hook my dad up with my ipod. Please, engadget - hook a subscriber up!
I guess that means no DivX playback - according to http://www.cyberlink.com/multi/products/main_57.html&lang=en_US, DHMS supports the following formats only:
* Video : MPEG2 PS, MPEG2 TS, WMV, H.264 (MP4)
* Audio : MP3, LPCM, WMA, AAC_ADTS_320 (3GP), AAC_ISO_320 (3GP)
* Photo: JPG, PNG, BMP
No FLAC, no OGG, not even GIF.
820,000 new subscribers? Does that include Helio's 170,000 subscribers? I have Helio in the Los Angeles area, I have the Ocean, and I have a contract until June 09. The coverage is decent, but the 3g isn't all that, the browser sucks, the lag is horrible, and there's no tethering. Having push email (gmail) is nice, but the battery life is horrific. I have to charge every night, and I don't talk much.
I know no one else with Helio service. All of their stores are closed. Frys/Radio Shack/Circuit City don't have accessories. I often shop in the Koreatown area, and even there they are not selling so well. I went to a dealer at a mall to buy a car charger, and they didn't have any helio chargers (they did find an LG VX charger that worked). It's like the company is dying, but won't let its customers switch. We are stuck in limbo. All I want is to get out of my contract early, but I can't because I have the unlimited plan. Honestly, if the Ocean 2 came out in the summer, I would have been happy. But as it stands, it's like I'm leasing a Peugeot, but there are no service stations, no new models, no car clubs, and the only company rep is the one collecting the payments.
Sorry to see Ryan go, but I wouldn't mind some goodies as a good-bye gift...
The 42" 1080P AOC Envision is down to $800 at costco through August 31st. The reviews that I've read aren't positive, and the 8ms refresh is not the greatest in this day. Also, $499 for a 26"? I bought a Sharp 26" (non-aquos) for $399 a year ago ($100 rebate at Staples), so these prices aren't so hot.
Let the hive mind of Engadget get that for you.
"With all the new multitouch capable monitors coming out, which one is the best? With the release of Windows 7 I really want a touchscreen monitor for my desktop. I'm looking to get a Full HD monitor that supports multitouch and can still look great during gaming and movies. Which one has the best specs for the price?"
