The verdict? It's quite lovely. The design is simple but attractive, and the build quality / materials are excellent. There's no doubt this is a thin and wide device -- just like the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/15/atandt-galaxy-note-review/">Samsung Galaxy Note</a>, two hands are the name of the game here. Is it a phone or a tablet? Take a look at our gallery below and judge for yourself. It looks like you're going to get those suit pockets let out a little if you're interested in picking up the Optimus Vu -- it's a fair bit wider than even the Galaxy Note. We also get a real world glimpse at the Vu's hardware, which sports a bevel design similar to that of LG's recent Prada <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2011/12/14/lg-prada-3-0-hands-on-video/">team-up</a>. Unfortunately, there's just the one lonely comparison photo to go on, although an extra screen grab of some note-taking features has also surfaced. Will the LG's big phone / tiny tablet arrive packing a stylus? We'll have to wait until we get our hands on one -- or a more detailed leak. We've included a peek at the note annotation app right after the break.</p><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/13/lg-optimus-vu-gets-pictured-alongside-samsung-galaxy-note-hints/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LG Optimus Vu gets pictured alongside Samsung Galaxy Note, hints at possible stylus</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/13/lg-optimus-vu-gets-pictured-alongside-samsung-galaxy-note-hints/">LG Optimus Vu gets pictured alongside Samsung Galaxy Note, hints at possible stylus</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 13 Feb 2012 07:09:00 EST. While our Korean translation skills aren't quite up to par, we've been able to decipher that this boxy number packs a 5-inch touchscreen and a rather unique 4:3 aspect ratio. The telltale capacitive touch buttons reveal this as an Android device, which the Korean manufacturer suggests is more comfortable to hold than traditional portrait-based solutions. It'll be interesting to see what this means for application compatibility, but for the moment, we're going to keep digging for more specs. Oh, and if you happen to know Korean, don't be afraid to drop additional tidbits into the comments below.<br /><br />[Thanks, Byungjin]<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> We've stumbled upon an image -- embedded after the break -- from <em>Datacider</em> that purports to be a shot of the Optimus Vu in the wild. They've also included a smattering of specs, which include a 1.5GHz Qualcomm APQ8060 SoC, 1GB RAM, 8GB ROM, NFC, an eight megapixel camera and Android 2.3. More interestingly, the screen shows a "February 21st" date stamp, which may or may not be a hint. Feel free to hit up the source link for that extra peek.<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/08/lg-teases-optimus-vu-android-smartphone-with-5-inch-screen-4-3/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>LG teases Optimus Vu Android smartphone with 5-inch screen, 4:3 aspect ratio (video)</em></a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2012/02/08/lg-teases-optimus-vu-android-smartphone-with-5-inch-screen-4-3/">LG teases Optimus Vu Android smartphone with 5-inch screen, 4:3 aspect ratio (video)</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 08 Feb 2012 00:37:00 EST. Brace yourselves, folks: it looks like one of the more painful incidents in recent memory might be in the process of repeating itself. Remember a while back when AT&amp;T <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/16/sony-ericsson-k850-poster-for-atandt-spotted-in-the-wild/">canceled</a> the hotly-anticipated Sony Ericsson K850 at the last possible fricking second? Yeah, well, we're hearing that LG and AT&amp;T may have mutually agreed to put the brakes on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/secret">CF750 Secret</a> (which, like the K850, just happens to be a 5 megapixel phone) "due to cost" -- in other words, some guy in a suit thinks the price point wouldn't make sense. He's likely right, but we're going to grumble nonetheless if that ends up being the case.<br /> <br /> In happier news, the well-traveled <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Shine/">Shine</a> looks due to finally be put out to pasture by the end of May "at the latest," while the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Vu/">Vu</a> is scheduled to be euthanized in August -- but don't worry, both models have replacements in the pipeline. Currently, it looks like AT&amp;T expects the Shine 2 and Vu 2 to hit in the third quarter, though we know from countless past experiences that this is liable to slip dangerously close to the holiday shopping season as both manufacturer and carrier realize that neither the hardware nor software are ready for primetime. The Vu 2 is said to have "some new 3D touchscreen that... was very impressive," which we take to mean that S-Class is a strong possibility here. Could the Vu 2 end up being a thinly-veiled <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Arena/">Arena</a> or <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/ViewtySmart/">Viewty Smart</a> clone?<br /> <br /> [Thanks, Kal]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/04/22/atandt-rumors-lg-secret-canceled-shine-2-and-vu-2-on-the-way/">AT&amp;T rumors: LG Secret canceled, Shine 2 and Vu 2 on the way?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 22 Apr 2009 11:00:00 EST. Most people try to keep carrier branding on their phones to a minimum -- it's gaudy, loud, and unnecessary -- but for the burgeoning KIRF industry, anything goes. Take for example the SciPhone S18, brought to you by the same company that saw fit to <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/15/dream-g2-doesnt-get-the-irony-of-ripping-off-an-open-source-os/">clone a free platform, Android</a>, of all things. It sorta looks like a cross between an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Incite/">Incite</a>, a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Vu/">Vu</a>, and a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Prada/">Prada</a> (which never launched on AT&amp;T, coincidentally), but the kicker is the big ol' AT&amp;T logo top center. We're pretty sure it wouldn't take more than a couple days on an American carrier for these dudes to decide that the logo's doing more harm than good, but then again, maybe they know something we don't. Doubtful.<br /><br />[Thanks, Andrew]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/19/keepin-it-real-fake-part-clxviii-no-carrier-subsidy-to-be-fou/">Keepin' it real fake, part CLXVIII: no carrier subsidy to be found</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 19 Jan 2009 10:44:00 EST. Mum's still the word with AT&amp;T, but LG's gone ahead and spilled the beans on the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/03/lg-vu-landing-at-atandt-in-new-wine-hue/">burgundy version</a> of the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Vu/">Vu</a> -- a phone that's starting to look a little long in the tooth in the face of its <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/eternity">newer competition from Samsung</a>, so what better way to freshen things up than with a new color? Only the MediaFLO-equipped CU920 version of the phone seems like it's coming in the new shade, so if you were hoping to squeeze by without having to buy the mobile TV circuitry, we're afraid you might walk away disappointed. Let us know if you see this one galavanting around stores, won't you?<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.phonearena.com/htmls/LG-Vu-now-available-in-burgundy-article-a_3578.html">phoneArena</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/15/lg-vu-now-official-in-burgundy/">LG Vu now official in burgundy</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 15 Dec 2008 18:28:00 EST. At least, that's the good word coming from the Boy Genius. Reportedly, the new version (model number 920 versus the old 915) will also boast <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/MediaFLO/">MediaFLO</a> and a number of assorted bug fixes, and while there's no expected date of arrival mentioned, it should ring up at right around $100 whenever it lands.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/12/03/lg-vu-landing-at-atandt-in-new-wine-hue/">LG Vu landing at AT&amp;T in new wine hue</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 03 Dec 2008 07:02:00 EST. Lookee here -- this week's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/hwyc/">How Would You Change</a> writeup over on Engadget Classic has an awful lot to do with the mobile realm. You know, particularly since the device in question is <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Vu/">LG's Vu</a>. If you've recently snagged one from AT&amp;T, why not head on over and sound off about your experiences? It's a quick trip, we promise.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/30/how-would-you-change-lgs-vu/">How would you change LG's Vu?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 30 May 2008 18:30:00 EST. With all this hubbub floating around about the elusive <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/iphone">3G iPhone</a>, let us not forget about the latest touchscreen smartphone to land at AT&amp;T: <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Vu/">LG's Vu</a>. After getting official earlier this month, we were able to sit down with the <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/05/01/video-atandt-launching-mobile-tv-may-4th-demonstrated-on-lg-vu/">Mobile TV</a>-supporting handset and form a few opinions of our own. Here, however, we're interested in your take -- do you feel the $549.99 (or $299.99 on contract) price tag is reasonable for what you get? Are you pleased with the hardware / software? Are you feeling buyer's remorse like never before? Go on and spill it, we're all friends here.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/30/how-would-you-change-lgs-vu/">How would you change LG's Vu?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 30 May 2008 18:30:00 EST. These days, voice is the tip of the iceberg. Carriers are always -- and we do mean <em>always</em> -- looking for crafty ways to boost their average revenue per user, and with everyone and their brother offering an unlimited voice plan at this point, it's about data and value-add services more than it ever has been before. To that end, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/vcasttv">Verizon</a> and AT&amp;T have embraced <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/MediaFLO/">MediaFLO</a> as a way to keep their subscribers entertained on the road to the tune of a few extra bucks per month. AT&amp;T's service, simply christened Mobile TV, has just launched with a pair of devices from Samsung and LG; naturally, we wanted to know whether the phones were worth the $199 and $299 AT&amp;T's asking, respectively -- but perhaps more importantly, we had to figure out whether the service was worth sucking another $15 a month out of our already-strained wallets.<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-samsung-access-and-atandt-mobile-tv/">Hands-on with the LG Vu, Samsung Access, and AT&amp;T Mobile TV</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-samsung-access-and-atandt-mobile-tv/#799970"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/05/att-mobile-tv-access-vu-00-lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-samsung-access-and-atandt-mobile-tv/#799971"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/05/att-mobile-tv-access-vu-01-lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-samsung-access-and-atandt-mobile-tv/#799989"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/05/att-mobile-tv-access-vu-02-lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-samsung-access-and-atandt-mobile-tv/#799987"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/05/att-mobile-tv-access-vu-03-lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-samsung-access-and-atandt-mobile-tv/#799990"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/05/att-mobile-tv-access-vu-04-lg_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/12/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-samsung-access-and-atandt-mobile-tv/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Hands-on with the LG Vu, Samsung Access, and AT&amp;T Mobile TV</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/multimedia/" rel="tag">Multimedia</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/samsung/" rel="tag">Samsung</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/12/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-samsung-access-and-atandt-mobile-tv/">Hands-on with the LG Vu, Samsung Access, and AT&amp;T Mobile TV</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 12 May 2008 12:15:00 EST. No surprises here -- particularly since LG's Vu has been on sale through a number of AT&amp;T retail outlets since <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/04/30/lg-vus-popping-up-in-atandt-stores-ahead-of-launch/">late last month</a> (whoops!). Engadget Mobile literally <em>just</em> took delivery of a shiny new <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/vu">LG Vu</a> with support for AT&amp;T's Mobile TV service, and they've gone and posted a few quick shots in between long stretches of ogling the CNN channel (we kid, we kid). So our friendly local postman dropped this little gem off at our door this morning! That's right, your eyes don't deceive you -- it's an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/vu">LG Vu</a> of the CU920 variety, complete with Mobile TV support. We haven't had a chance to get the TV service up and running just yet, but we wanted to throw up a few visuals for everyone to feast on. In short, the screen's beautiful, we're pretty happy with the touch control so far, and we're pretty shocked at just how <em>light</em> this phone is. Click on, people! Do it!<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-in-retail-clothing/">Hands-on with the LG Vu in retail clothing</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-in-retail-clothing/#782942"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/05/lg-vu-retail-hands-on-019_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-in-retail-clothing/#782940"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/05/lg-vu-retail-hands-on-001_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-in-retail-clothing/#782941"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/05/lg-vu-retail-hands-on-002_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-in-retail-clothing/#782952"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/05/lg-vu-retail-hands-on-003_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-in-retail-clothing/#782954"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/05/lg-vu-retail-hands-on-004_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/01/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu-in-retail-clothing/">Hands-on with the LG Vu in retail clothing</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 01 May 2008 11:27:00 EST. MediaFLO is about to cut loose for AT&amp;T customers this morning and we've got video to prove it. After the break you'll find Mobile TV running on LG's new $300 (2-year, after $100 rebate) Vu, one of just two Mobile TV compatible handsets launching on AT&amp;T May 4th -- the other being the $200 (2-year, after $100 rebate) <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/12/samsung-access-atandts-other-mediaflo-launch-phone/">Samsung Access</a>. Performance looks reasonably snappy when scrolling through the channel guide although some of the exclusive <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/pix">PIX</a> and CNN Mobile Live content is not yet available. S'ok, AT&amp;T has three more days to throw the big blue switch on the broadcast TV service which includes a $15/month unlimited Mobile TV access plan. Hear that Verizon? AT&amp;T's about to step all over your portable TV game in the US market.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://community.myfoxutah.com/blogs/KirkYuhnke/2008/04/30/Att_Mobile_TV_Sneak_Peek">MyFoxUtah</a>]<p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/01/video-atandt-launching-mobile-tv-may-4th-demonstrated-on-lg-vu/" rel="bookmark">Continue reading <em>Video: AT&amp;T launching Mobile TV May 4th, demonstrated on LG Vu</em></a></p><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/multimedia/" rel="tag">Multimedia</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/samsung/" rel="tag">Samsung</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/05/01/video-atandt-launching-mobile-tv-may-4th-demonstrated-on-lg-vu/">Video: AT&amp;T launching Mobile TV May 4th, demonstrated on LG Vu</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 01 May 2008 01:26:00 EST. Stores have started stocking up on <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/vu">Vus</a> ahead of their launch next week, and we're getting a little photography here to prove it. It looks like this one is an honest-to-goodness CU920, too, meaning it sports MediaFLO reception -- either that, or AT&amp;T was too lazy to put the Mobile TV-less CU915 model in a different package without the "TV" icon on the screen. We're still hearing May 5 is the official launch day for these, but it seems some locations are selling early, so try your luck and let us know how it goes, k?<br /><br />[Thanks, Kal]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/30/lg-vus-popping-up-in-atandt-stores-ahead-of-launch/">LG Vus popping up in AT&amp;T stores ahead of launch</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Wed, 30 Apr 2008 18:21:00 EST. While we're all twiddling our thumbs and waiting patiently for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/27/atandt-announces-atandt-mobile-tv-for-may-launch/">next month's Vu release on AT&amp;T</a>, we suppose some reading materials couldn't hurt, right? We've found no earth-shattering surprises in these quick guides that are filtering their way into corporate stores, but we do think it's kinda funny that they're pushing Cellular Video right alongside Mobile TV on page one; then again, with a MediaFLO launch that covers just a fraction of AT&amp;T's total coverage area, we suppose we'll still need some entertainment when we're out in the sticks. <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/videoshare">Video Share</a> instructions are here, along with the comforting reminder that a light finger press is sufficient to operate the Vu's touch screen -- so yeah, we're pretty much educated and ready, AT&amp;T. Bring it on.<br /><br />[Thanks, anonymous tipster]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/touchy-tv-quick-start-guides-surface-for-the-lg-vu/">Touchy TV: quick start guides surface for the LG Vu</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/touchy-tv-quick-start-guides-surface-for-the-lg-vu/#752590"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/04/lg-vu-guide-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/touchy-tv-quick-start-guides-surface-for-the-lg-vu/#752591"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/04/lg-vu-guide-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/touchy-tv-quick-start-guides-surface-for-the-lg-vu/#752592"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/04/lg-vu-guide-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/touchy-tv-quick-start-guides-surface-for-the-lg-vu/#752593"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/04/lg-vu-guide-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/15/touchy-tv-quick-start-guides-surface-for-the-lg-vu/">Touchy TV: quick start guides surface for the LG Vu</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 15 Apr 2008 12:45:00 EST. We just played with the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Vu/">Vu</a> here, and we have to say -- while it's hard to deny the attraction of a huge touchscreen, it's just a little light and unsubstantial in the hands. Then again, if we have to levy a complaint against a device, "too light" is a pretty weak one. The UI is typical LG for this category of device -- think <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Viewty/">Viewty</a> -- but we're happy to report that the screen itself doesn't exhibit the same flimsiness that we detected when we reviewed the KU990 some time back. Since you won't be able to get any closer than this to a Vu before May, check out some shots, won't you?<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu/">Hands-on with the LG Vu</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu/#729436"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/04/lg-vu-ctia-200800_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu/#729447"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/04/lg-vu-ctia-200801_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu/#729443"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/04/lg-vu-ctia-200802_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu/#729440"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/04/lg-vu-ctia-200803_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu/#729444"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/04/lg-vu-ctia-200804_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/04/01/hands-on-with-the-lg-vu/">Hands-on with the LG Vu</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Tue, 01 Apr 2008 15:05:00 EST. Those eagerly anticipating the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/vu">LG Vu</a> now have a little more to go by -- at least visually, anyway. The specs floating around jibe with everything we've heard, and apparently include a nice 3-inch 400 x 240 display. Head on over to Phone Arena for more.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/30/lg-vu-further-slides-into-view/">LG Vu further slides into view</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 30 Mar 2008 15:04:00 EST. It turns out that AT&amp;T won't be the only network picking up the Americanized version of LG's <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Prada/">Prada</a> -- the blacked-out, touch-tastic <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Vu/">Vu</a> -- <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/27/atandt-announces-atandt-mobile-tv-for-may-launch/">come this May</a>; Rogers wants in on the action up north of the border, too, and they'll be keeping pace with their GSM brethren below the St. Lawrence by launching the phone in the very same time frame. We can only assume that Rogers will be launching the CU915 variant (or TU915, as it'll probably come to be known to them) since the carrier doesn't feature a MediaFLO network that would warrant the need for the CU920's additional hardware and expense. As we already know, the phone will feature a 2 megapixel camera, HSDPA, microSD expansion, and it comes as no surprise that the phone will support access to the full host of Rogers' media services. It looks like pricing will be announced closer to launch, but you might want to just start putting away the occasional dollar now, because this one ain't exactly going out the door free on contract if you catch our drift.<br /><br />[Via <a href="http://www.mobileincanada.com/news-809-en-news-Rogers-launch-the-LG-VU-in-Canada.html">Mobile In Canada</a>]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/rogers-wireless/" rel="tag">Rogers Wireless</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/28/rogers-getting-the-lg-vu-in-may-too/">Rogers getting the LG Vu in May, too</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 28 Mar 2008 10:30:00 EST. They haven't revealed anything we didn't <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/01/10/the-lowdown-on-atandts-mediaflo-launch/">already know</a>, but AT&amp;T's finally come out with a semi-firm date for the launch of its MediaFLO-powered mobile TV service which will be branded simply as "AT&amp;T Mobile TV." It'll be available to subscribers in May -- no specific date just yet -- on two exclusive handsets, the Prada-esque <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/vu">LG Vu</a> and the more pedestrian <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/2008/01/12/samsung-access-atandts-other-mediaflo-launch-phone/">Samsung Access</a>; the Vu features an expansive touchscreen and 2 megapixel camera, while the Access makes do with a smaller landscape display and a 1.3 megapixel sensor. Both feature Bluetooth and 3G data, but the real story here is Mobile TV itself, which will come with two new channels that are exclusive to AT&amp;T (in other words, unavailable on the other live MediaFLO service, VCAST TV from Verizon). So we <em>still</em> don't have solid word on exactly when the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/MediaFLO/">MediaFLO</a>-equipped LG CU920 <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Vu/">Vu</a> (and its TV-less little brother, the CU915) are going to launch, but we're figuring it's a good sign (pun totally intended) that signage is showing up in AT&amp;T stores. Then again, it seems that the branded K850 was canceled <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/16/sony-ericsson-k850-poster-for-atandt-spotted-in-the-wild/">after the promo materials were shipped</a>, so we guess we can't stop holding our collective breath just yet.<br /><br />[Thanks, Kal]<br /><br /><div class="postgallery"><p><strong>Gallery: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-vu-goodies-showing-up-in-atandt-stores-1/">LG Vu goodies showing up in AT&amp;T stores</a></strong></p><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-vu-goodies-showing-up-in-atandt-stores-1/#712026"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/03/vu-promo-1_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-vu-goodies-showing-up-in-atandt-stores-1/#712027"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/03/vu-promo-2_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-vu-goodies-showing-up-in-atandt-stores-1/#712028"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/03/vu-promo-3_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a><a href="http://www.engadget.com/photos/lg-vu-goodies-showing-up-in-atandt-stores-1/#712025"><img src="http://www.blogcdn.com/www.engadgetmobile.com/media/2008/03/vu-promo-4_thumbnail.jpg" alt="" title="" /></a></div><p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/multimedia/" rel="tag">Multimedia</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/20/lg-vu-goodies-showing-up-in-atandt-stores/">LG Vu goodies showing up in AT&amp;T stores</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 20 Mar 2008 16:27:00 EST. An eagle-eyed tipster noticed that AT&amp;T's imminently-launching <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/vu">LG Vu</a> superphone has finally made an appearance on an official page of the carrier's. A glance at the list of TTY-compatible phones lists the CU915 and CU920, seemingly confirming a <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/18/update-on-lgs-dealings-with-atandt-shine-is-the-shine-prada-is/">rumor</a> we've heard in various forms over the past few months -- that the Vu will be offered in two versions, one with and one without MediaFLO. The upcoming mobile TV service will <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/10/the-lowdown-on-atandts-mediaflo-launch/">only be initially launching in a fraction of the markets</a> where AT&amp;T offers 3G service, so it makes some sense that they'd ask LG to spin a special version of the high-end phone that could be offered elsewhere -- potentially at a slightly lower price point. We can only hope.<br /><br />[Thanks, Alex]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/17/atandt-page-mentions-the-lg-vu-in-two-flavors/">AT&amp;T page mentions the LG Vu -- in two flavors</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 17 Mar 2008 00:57:00 EST. We've already <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/29/lg-vu-tracking-for-a-late-march-release/">mentioned</a> that the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/vu">LG Vu</a> is looking solid for a late March release after being held up (or so they say, anyway) to work through a few MediaFLO issues; we've now received independent confirmation that it's true -- assuming no more issues arise, of course -- but that's not all. No, far from it, in fact. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/25/hands-on-with-sony-ericssons-z750/">Sony Ericsson Z750</a> is apparently inbound for a release within two weeks, and along with the rugged <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/29/meet-the-w760r-motorolas-v365-replacement-for-atandt/">Motorola W760</a> "Hurricane" (pictured), that should close out AT&amp;T's March docket.<br /><br />Moving on to April and beyond, the Pantech "Breeze" is expected some time next month, but don't get too excited -- it's an entry level flip that should move out the door free on contract. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/07/the-motorola-z9/">Motorola Z9</a> slider should lackadaisically stroll into stores in late April, and finally, we've heard that the Nokia N95 has been approved by the carrier's powers that be (!!!) and should be available in the second quarter; no word on whether it's the standard <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/N95/">N95</a> or the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/08/29/nokias-n95-8gb-brings-more-chunk-for-your-junk/">N95 8GB</a>, though. How about an <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/11/the-nokia-n96-redefines-high-end/">N96</a> with MediaFLO while you're at it, guys?<br /><br />[Thanks, Kal]<br /><br /><strong>Update:</strong> We've just heard from another tipster that the N95 in question is the original for the North American market, the N95-3. It apparently just started going through the arduous approval process last week, a testing marathon that takes roughly 400 hours -- four to six months -- to complete. By then, we'll all have 4G radios embedded directly within our brains and be living in terraformed colonies on Mars, but it was a nice thought on AT&amp;T's part nonetheless.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/nokia/" rel="tag">Nokia</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/pantech/" rel="tag">Pantech</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sony-ericsson/" rel="tag">Sony Ericsson</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/symbian/" rel="tag">Symbian</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/03/02/a-look-at-atandts-pipeline-early-march-2008-edition/">A look at AT&amp;T's pipeline, early March 2008 edition</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Sun, 02 Mar 2008 12:55:00 EST. We knew there had to be a good explanation for the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/vu">Vu's</a> name <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/29/atandt-may-not-have-the-lg-vu-yet-but-it-has-vu-accessories/">starting to show up on AT&amp;T's wares</a>, and this just might be it. We're hearing rumblings that the device, one of AT&amp;T's likely inaugural <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/MediaFLO/">MediaFLO</a> handsets, is apparently now set for a March 18 release into distribution channels with March 20 availability in stores. Of course, AT&amp;T originally wanted this thing out at the beginning of this month, so we'll believe it when we're standing at the cash register with a box in our hands.<br /><br />[Thanks, anonymous tipster]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/02/29/lg-vu-tracking-for-a-late-march-release/">LG Vu tracking for a late March release?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Fri, 29 Feb 2008 17:56:00 EST. Wouldn't it be pretty awesome to have the launch dates for, like, all of AT&amp;T's most anticipated devices on one convenient 440 x 330 image? Well, that's not quite what we have here -- the Sony Ericsson <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/30/hands-on-with-the-sony-ericsson-k850i/">K850</a> is nowhere to be found, for one -- but this is a solid start. It sounds like that SMT5700 (codename "Bulldog," how cool is that?) that we've been anticipating for <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/08/atandts-qwerty-equipped-smt5700-drops-by-fcc/">nearly a year now</a> will finally get outed on February 5 alongside the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/tag/Vu/">Vu</a>. We still don't know whether <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/12/19/atandt-promises-mobile-tv-as-early-as-possible-in-2008/">AT&amp;T's MediaFLO network</a> will launch at the same time, and we've heard rumors that there will be a second Vu without MediaFLO support, so we could be seeing that here but we're really not sure. Despite the missing K850, Sony Ericsson's still putting up a reasonably strong showing here with a pink W580i launching this week and the 3G <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/26/sony-ericsson-intros-w580-z750-walkman-phones/">Z750</a> in grey, pink, and purple on March 11. In addition to the Vu, LG will be offering the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/11/22/lg-shine-now-showing-on-atandts-website-too/">CU720 Shine</a> in red on January 22 and in black (ooh, that might look hot!) on February 28. Option's HSUPA data cards are now targeted for January 24, and last -- and probably least -- the <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/26/atandt-launches-motorazr-v3xx-hsdpa-clam/">Motorola V3xx</a> outstays its welcome by making an encore appearance in "lavender" on the 22nd of this month.<br /><br />[Thanks, Kal]<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/motorola/" rel="tag">Motorola</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/others/" rel="tag">Others</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/sony-ericsson/" rel="tag">Sony Ericsson</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/windows-mobile/" rel="tag">Windows Mobile</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/10/a-fresh-round-of-atandt-release-dates/">A fresh round of AT&amp;T release dates</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 10 Jan 2008 13:14:00 EST. Phone Scoop appears to have caught LG a little unprepared with a pair of handsets that haven't been officially outed, and as far as we can tell, aren't on the docket to be announced this week at CES. First up, the AX565 clamshell is allegedly Alltel-bound (and we'd tend to agree from the silkscreened label on the front and all) and features an unusual square touchpad for external music control, stereo Bluetooth, microSD expansion, and a 1.3 megapixel camera. Now, onto the moneymaker: the mighty <a href="http://www.engadgetmobile.com/tag/Vu/">Vu</a>, a Prada-esque handset that should usher in AT&amp;T's MediaFLO age when it gets around to launching in the next few months. We'll keep you posted if we get any more intel on either of these suckers.<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/cellphones/" rel="tag">Cellphones</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2008/01/07/lg-vu-ax565-quietly-break-cover-at-ces/">LG Vu, AX565 quietly break cover at CES</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Mon, 07 Jan 2008 20:31:00 EST. At this point it's fairly safe to say the whole concept of technology-integrated refrigerators hasn't really caught on, but certainly not because people aren't willing to drop coin on a nice new cooler. Really, it's got more to do with the fact that you simply can't upgrade anything once you've dropped that first chunk of change. Unfortunately for GE, since it was introduced last year, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/01/29/whirlpool-unveils-lcd-equipped-centralpark-connection-refrigerat/">Whirlpool's centralpark</a> hasn't been much more effective at tackling that problem, despite offering up a common -- but not ubiquitous or open -- interface for fridge devices. But there is that single, revealingly-named Whirlpool GD5VVAXT to connect this year's centralpark devices to, including:<br />

<li>Brandmotion iPod dock - Guess what it does! Price not yet announced.</li>
<li>Clio Vu - Dock and display mount for your Clio NXT, running Oh yeah, you don't have a Clio NXT, because pretty much no one does. </li>
<li>Quartet Qnote Message Center - Simple, boring glass note taker with dry-erase markers.</li>

<em>Field tidbits from Engadget's mobile insider, <a href="http://www.boygeniusreport.com/">The Boy Genius</a>.</em><br /><br />Remember way back when we caught wind that AT&amp;T was <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/12/finally-3g-atandt-picking-up-sony-ericsson-z750a-k850a/">eying</a> Sony Ericsson's initial American 3G efforts -- the Z750 and K850 -- for release? Well, it's looking good! This slide, imploring employees to focus on "exclusives," shows us that AT&amp;T has locked onto launching a version of the K850 as the "Ansel" (seriously?) come next March. Seems like an awfully long time to wait, but in the meantime, we can check out the MediaFLO-equipped <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/25/lgs-shine-and-vu-for-atandt-colors-dates-and-flo-oh-my/">LG Vu</a> in January. So here's the deal for AT&amp;T's CU720 Shine: AT&amp;T looks to be preparing the anticipated slider (or, at least it was anticipated <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2006/10/18/goodbye-lg-chocolate-hello-shine/">like a year ago</a>) for a Black Friday launch. The silvery model will launch first, with black and red both planned for early '08. The <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=Vu">Vu</a> -- alias <a href="http://www.engadget.com/search/?q=Prada">Prada</a>, alias CU920 -- is still on track for an early '08 launch, too, though LG and AT&amp;T are apparently pushing hard to get it rolled out in December, presumably to catch some last-minute holiday sales. MediaFLO support is confirmed in this bad boy, meaning that glorious display should see a little more action than the Cellular Video and MobiTV options AT&amp;T subscribers have today. Oh, and are you wondering how that name's pronounced? Turns out it's "view," not "voo." We'd also mentioned that AT&amp;T would debut the "Vu" branding for the devices, and while we still haven't figured out whether that's pronounced "voo" or "view," we <em>can</em> provide a bit of an update on how that branding's gonna go down. It turns out that the Shine will hang on to the Shine name, probably a good idea considering the global appeal the name has garnered (Chocolate, anyone?), while the Prada will be christened the Vu. Thing is, we're hearing it'll come in two versions: the Vu with MediaFLO mobile TV (we're still reeling from the fact that AT&amp;T actually <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/02/12/atandt-selects-mediaflo-us-moves-closer-to-mobile-tv-monopoly/">made that move</a>) and the Vu2 without. So yeah, if you only wanted AT&amp;T to carry this thing so that you could get the Prada branding slapped on a carrier-subsidized handset, you're probably out of luck for the time being -- but regardless of what it's called, it should be an exceptionally hot device and a helluva competitor for that <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/03/verizons-lg-voyager-heads-up-newly-official-fall-lineup/">Voyager</a> over there on Verizon, a phone that just happens to hail from the same manufacturer. If the iPhone is AT&amp;T's cake, its own version of the LG Prada may very well be the icing. Gizmodo has scored shots of what appears to be LG's high-end, touchable superphone running AT&amp;T firmware that's clearly been tweaked for the better from the original <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/03/15/hands-on-with-the-lg-prada/">KE850</a> (better web browser, please!). Don't expect to stuff stockings with this one, though -- despite <a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/07/27/lgs-rumored-roadmap-for-atandt/">earlier rumors</a> that it might squeeze in by December, we're hearing that AT&amp;T and LG are targeting a Q1 '08 release for the device, apparently called the "Vu2." If there's a Vu2, there's gotta be a Vu, right? Indeed, it turns out that AT&amp;T's Shine will bear the moniker when it gets released. The carrier had originally targeted September for the Vu, but that obviously didn't happen; word on the street is that they're back in the labs tweaking the user interface as we speak and we haven't heard when a launch might actually go down. Both phones offer 3G, of course -- so between the Vu's nav stick and the Vu2's expansive touchscreen, we've got a couple of unique offerings on our hands here. Strong work picking these up, AT&amp;T!<br /><br />[Thanks, anonymous tipster]<br /><br /><a href="http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/lg-shine/att-lg-shine-spy-shots-307778.php">Read</a> - LG Shine for AT&amp;T (Vu)<br /><a href="http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/att-prada/att-lg-prada-spy-shots-309930.php">Read</a> - LG Prada for AT&amp;T (Vu2)<p>Filed under: <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/handsets/" rel="tag">Handsets</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/lg/" rel="tag">LG</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/atandt/" rel="tag">ATT</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/gsm/" rel="tag">GSM</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/edge/" rel="tag">EDGE</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/hsdpa/" rel="tag">HSDPA</a>, <a href="http://www.engadget.com/category/umts/" rel="tag">UMTS</a></p><p style="padding:5px;background:#ddd;border:1px solid #ccc;clear:both;"><a href="http://www.engadget.com/2007/10/11/lg-shine-prada-coming-to-atandt-as-vu-vu2/">LG Shine, Prada coming to AT&amp;T as Vu, Vu2?</a> originally appeared on <a href="http://www.engadget.com">Engadget</a> on Thu, 11 Oct 2007 19:07:00 EST.
